Research Paper

First Things First

Please email me a brief proposal of what you intend to do for your research paper. Here's what I want to know:

  • Which paper will you be revising and why?
  • What areas will you be trying to improve and how?
  • What ideas will you be developing further through your research and why?
  • Do you have any questions?

Proposal due by March 23 at 11:59 PM

FAILURE TO SUBMIT THIS PROPOSAL WILL COUNT AGAINST YOUR FINAL RESEARCH PAPER GRADE BY ONE LETTER GRADE.

Notes

Think of this paper as your midterm exam. This is where you show me what you've learned, so it should be a well-focused paper that has a strong central thesis and makes use of AEES.

This paper will require you to use two outside sources which excludes all works I've assigned you to read, conform to MLA format and include a Works Cited page. The minimum word count is 1,000. This paper will be graded on a scale of A-F.

The assignment is to take any one of the papers you have already written, and revise it adding outside source material. Choose authoritative sources that will help support your thesis, and be prepared to change your thesis if the material demands it.

Sources may not include Wikipedia's, dictionaries, encyclopedias or "ask me" type sites such as Yahoo! Answers.

Sources may include reputable Web sites (this site will help you determine whether a site is reputable), books, journals, newspapers or other traditional media as well as online sources.

The Research Paper is due April 8 at 11:59 PM (PST)

If you have any questions, let me know. Otherwise, get this stuff done, have a nice Spring Break, and be back here April 5 for more class.

Works Cited

Create a page of possible works you'll be using for your reseach paper. This list can certainly change, but I want to see that you have started your research and are on the right track.

You need to email me a Works Cited page with all of the sources you're citing in your paper, including the novels and other texts from the course. This site will help you with MLA format and the Works Cited page.
